Isabel Torres

Isabel Torres of McAllen, TX, died peacefully on August 19, 2024, after 60 vibrant years of life. She passed away in McAllen, TX, surrounded by family. She was born on April 25, 1964, to Raquel Henderson in Brownsville, Tx. Isabel was the eldest of 7 siblings, Irene, Maria, Julianna, Raquel, Eva, Jose and Stanley.

Growing up in Monterrey, Mexico where met Javier Torres and married in 1982. Shortly after they migrated to the Rio Grande Valley where she built a beautiful life. She was a strong woman, who worked hard for her family. Often times migrating up north during the summer months to provide a better future to her children.

They raised four beautiful daughters who were deeply cherished: Samantha Alaniz, Joanna Garcia, Rachel Diaz and Sabrina Torres. She instilled in her children hard work ethic, responsibility, empathy, and a deep understanding of the Christian faith and values. Her children were her proudest achievement. Isabel’s hard work led her daughters to become the first generation in obtaining their Master’s degrees in their family, the American dream that Isabel had.

She loved Jesus and her Church. She treasured Christian music, reading the Bible, and family time. She was a one time cancer survivor who fought hard up until her last breath. As a believer in Christ, she has been set-free and is now walking the streets of gold with our Heavenly Father.

Isabel is survived by her children, Samantha Alaniz, Joanna Garcia, Rachel Diaz and Sabrina Torres, and grandchildren Alberto Javier Alaniz, Matthew Garcia, Audrina Garcia, Bryanna Diaz and Kylie Diaz. She is massively celebrated, forever cherished and deeply missed. Thank you for everything Mom.

A visitation for Isabel will be held Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Palm Valley, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577. Catering will be served during the visitation from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday. A funeral service will occur Monday, August 26, 2024 at 10:00 AM, 4607 North Sugar Road, Pharr, TX 78577 with a burial following at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens Pharr, TX.
