Carlos Alejandro Garcia, age 48, passed away on December 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, selflessness, and dedication. He was born on June 10, 1976, to Audelio Garcia (who he is preceded by in death) and Enedelia Garcia.
He is survived by his cherished children: Corah Alexis, Everett Roman, Evyn Alexander, Chloe Justice, and Caitlyn; his mother, Enedelia; his brother, David E. Ovalle (Paula E.); his nephew, Daniel E. Ovalle (Michelle); his niece, Adriana E. Ovalle; and his sisters, Lisa D. Garcia and Laurie A. Garcia.
Not only did Carlos excel as a gifted athlete in high school football and semi-professional baseball in the Mexican League, but he was also a devoted, lifelong Chicago sports fan. He treasured the camaraderie fostered by his beloved Cubbies, Bears, and Bulls, collecting numerous jerseys, caps, and pieces of memorabilia. He was a dedicated and hard-working skilled professional commercial electrician, known for his pride and his meticulous work.
Carlos, or Chuck so lovingly called by those close to him, cherished family above all else. He was a selfless and giving individual, always placing the needs of others before his own. Chuck had a beautiful gift of not only bringing joy to others through his infectious laugh and radiant smile, but of truly listening to a person in conversation and remembering even the smallest of details most would forget. Countless of times, he remembered what people mentioned they liked in passing and would later present those things as gifts to them, showing how much he truly valued and cared for them.
He maintained strong bonds even while working away from home, always calling his family members to tell them how much he appreciated and loved them. At every opportunity, he celebrated his loved ones and recounted how grateful he was to have them in his life and how their shared memories had impacted him, making him into the person he was today.
Carlos possessed an unwavering faith. His deep relationship with Christ guided him to see every challenge as an opportunity for growth. Whenever faced with one of the many challenges that came his way, he would say, “When God closes a door, He opens another. God is good. He is really working in my life. He is helping me to be better. He has given me so much.” He approached life’s experiences as lessons and gave credit to God for his blessings, challenges, and opportunities.
His thoughtful nature, humor, and steadfast belief in God’s plan were defining aspects of his character. Carlos will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of generosity, faith, and love will endure as a testament to the remarkable person he was.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Monday, December 23, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A rosary will occur Monday, December 23, 2024 at 6:00 PM. A burial will occur Tuesday, December 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
