He was born January 12, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. He was a 1963 graduate of Highland Park High School. He then attended Southwest Texas State University. He served in the US Navy as a Fire Control Technician (Gun Fire Control) from 1965-1969, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star.
He worked for Neeley Vending Company, Highland Lanes (where he also enjoyed bowling, even a 300, and LOVED their enchiladas) and Greyhound Bus Lines, all jobs that he truly enjoyed. He then worked for the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier for 26 years before retiring in 2013.
Our lives were enriched because of his quick wit, corny jokes, love of Jeopardy, NCIS and movies (Jumanji being his favorite). Dr. Pepper and Lay’s potato chips were his signature choice of snacks. His devotion to the Seattle Seahawks was second to none. His gentle guidance and love will live on through his friends and family.
Having been adopted, he decided to research his ancestry. As a result, in 2019 he discovered that he was the oldest of four children. He was lucky enough, one year before passing, to be able to meet his biological sister, brother and extended family. He said this made his life complete, as it was something that he didn’t know he was missing.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 16 years, Carol; daughter Charla Clark and husband Jim; son Yancy Arrington and wife Teresa; daughter Stacey Kent “the Kid” and husband Peter; granddaughter Ashley Jones and husband Corey; granddaughter Hailey Arrington; grandson Trevor Clark; granddaughter Tiffany Arrington; great-grandsons Dazdyn and Maverick Jones; brother Michael Land Sr. and wife Pam; sister Anita Land Coletti Sheldon and husband Larry; nephews Kevin Kuhl and Howard Kuhl; and beloved cat Gibbs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Arrington; sister Anita Parks Goble; brother Patrick Land; and beloved cats Abbey, Smokey, Callie, and Poco.
