Wayne Broughton Blacklock, age 87, passed away on May 6, 2014 at St. David’s Medical Center, Austin, Texas.
Wayne was born in Munday, TX in 1926 to Benjamin Levi and Flora Lee Blacklock. He attended Munday High School then served in the United States Navy in the Pacific Theater of World War II. He then attended Hardin-Simmons University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in May of 1949 and following pursued a career in insurance claims for 25 years.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Perry Blacklock, two daughters, Pamela Blacklock Dowd and LeAnn Perrow, all of Austin, Texas. Also surviving him are 9 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren, residents of Texas, North Carolina and Tennessee.
Wayne become an ordained deacon at Shearer Hills Baptist Church of San Antonio in 1962 and was an active member and chairman of the Deacon body of Windsor Park Baptist Church in Austin. He then joined First Baptist Church Pflugerville with his wife, Frances and remained active in the congregation until his passing.
Wayne carried a great passion for music and collecting of vinyl records which he loved to share with friends and family. After the loss of his vision, he participated in the Talking Book Club of Texas and was greatly appreciative of their service. He will be missed by many friends and has left a lasting legacy for his children, grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
