Roberto Gutierrez, Jr., age 53, of Pflugerville, Texas passed away peacefully on May 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Harlingen, Texas on June 24, 1965. He was proceeded in death by his father Roberto Gutierrez, Sr. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cathy Gutierrez; their sons, Roberto Gutierrez III (Trey), Christopher Joseph Gutierrez and Gabriel Baldemar Gutierrez; his grandmother Elena Espinosa; his loving mother Lucia Espinosa Gutierrez; his sisters Rosie (Rick) Mendoza, Becky (Ramiro) Huerta, Elmis (Thanh) Hermosilla; his brother Roy (Monica) Gutierrez; and all of his nephews and nieces.
Robert graduated from Harlingen High School and received a degree in Finance from Southwest Texas State University. He worked in state government for the State of Texas Department of Insurance for 29 years and was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. He had a passion for cheering on his beloved Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. His greatest joys were the times he spent loving, coaching and caring for his 3 sons, and making Sunday Morning coffee for his beautiful mom.
Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 22nd at 2:00 p.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church with burial services following.
Through his battle, Robert always remained positive and stayed focused on the many blessings that surrounded him. To show his appreciation to those he loved and those who loved him, in Robert’s words he said, “To those I know personally and to those I have not had the pleasure of meeting but praying one day I will, thank you thank you thank you for your thoughts and prayers. For those that know me as Boy, Gooch, Brother, Bobby, Primo, Cuz, Uncle, Mijo, and my all time favorite Dad, each name has a special meaning to me because it takes me back to special times."
