Rebecca Marguerite (Benton) Templeton, “Rita” as many of her friends called her, 94, an Austin resident for 53 years, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, leaving her Earthly journey in her home that she loved, ending her over 10 year battle with Dysphagia and Silent Aspiration. Our Mom showed so much courage with this disease, she was amazing!
Rebecca loved traveling, her big backyard, family BBQ’s and gatherings, birds, flowers, fig trees, orange trees, ceramics, bingo, ice cream socials, day trips and lunch dates with family and friends.
Rebecca is preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Robert Templeton (1997), two sons, Joseph Walton Templeton and Charles Franklin Templeton; grandson, Christopher Allan Templeton; father and mother, Robert Walton Benton, Sr, and beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth; brothers, Robert Walton Benton, Jr., and Larry Lee Benton; sisters Betsy Jane Benton and Nancy Lou Benton Mumpower.
Rebecca Templeton is survived by her children: sons, Robert C. Templeton of Shiloh, North Carolina, William R. Templeton Jr., Round Rock, Texas and Ende L. Templeton of Austin; her daughter, Cordelia E. Lovelady of Leander, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Tara Prien, Dustin Prien, Amanda Templeton, Molly Appel, Holly Seigmund, Courtney Templeton, Hannah Templeton, Mikah Templeton, Jessica Templeton and Abigail Templeton; 8 great-grandchildren, Lucas Prien, Grace, Mikeh, and Abbey Appel, Ryan and Tinsley Seigmund, and twins, James and Lucy Templeton; her sisters, Jean Moore of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Marie Rich of Charlotte, North Carolina; and her beloved cat, Allie.
Memorial contributions may be made to Halcyon Hospice, Home Care Assistance or the charity of choice.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Cook Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas.
