Becky grew up in Austin and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Texas at Austin. She began her career as a teacher in Florence ISD and moved on to Sweeny ISD, where she taught American History and coached tennis, volleyball and basketball for 30 years. Even when not coaching, Becky spent hours driving coaches and students to and from various school/sporting events.
After retiring, Becky moved to Round Rock to care for her parents. Becky was known for always lending a hand to others in need, being the person who could fix anything and for always being there when you needed something. She loved the color purple and animals, especially her beloved Shih Tzus Tally and Tessie. One year she found homes for and arranged to have about 60 cats spayed or neutered through the Humane Society.
While she was Texan through and through, Becky loved to travel, especially enjoying trips with her mother, Myra. Becky was loving, thoughtful and was known for picking out the best gifts. One of her greatest joys was being “Aunt Becky” to nine nieces and nephews and 17 great nieces and nephews, along with others she considered family.
Becky was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Austin, serving in several roles through the years.
She is predeceased in death by her father, Ervin Charles Herber; her brother, Larry David Herber; Johnnie Dianne Herber, Ruby Lavonne Herber; and other friends and family. Becky is survived by her mother, Myra Herber; her brother Robert and sister-in-law Ruthie Herber; brother Kerry and sister-in-law Melody Herber; her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews; and many close friends and family.
