May Frances Depew

May F. Depew, 87, was called home to enjoy the life she was promised by her Heavenly Father. May was a mighty warrior and fiercely conquered a multitude of health issues. Her final battle was January 2, 2021.

May was born in San Pedro, California on October 26, 1933. Her father was in the Navy and they moved all over the United States. Her family settled down in Pensacola, Florida. She had a calling to serve people and became a Registered Nurse. Her 55 year love story began when she met and married her soul mate, James Depew. They soon called Austin home where they started their family. James went to work in the family business, Depew Appliance, and May continued as a Nurse at Seton Hospital. Later she joined James at Depew Appliance for many years before returning to nursing in home health care. She was member of Walnut Creek Baptist Church and was an involved in many church activities. She particularly enjoyed singing in the Church Choir, going to Sunday School and the monthly domino slam night, just to name a few.

May believed through faith and the Grace of God all things were possible. She loved her God, family, friends, her dogs and cats with all her heart. She was a loving wife and a caring and compassionate mother, a dutiful sister and a faithful and true friend. Her kind heart always made everyone feel important and loved. May was the true Matriarch of the family, the mighty chain that held the family together. She will be sorely missed but her footprints will forever be a sweet reminder in our hearts. May will continue to take our hands and guide our lives with just her loving memory.

May is preceded in death by her loving husband, James M. Depew Sr.; eldest son, James M. “Jimmy” Depew, Jr.; her parents, Alexander and Iva Campbell; her brother, Alexander “Sandy” Campbell, Jr.; granddaughter, Kelly Frances Depew; and grandson, Stephen Michael Depew.

May is survived by her youngest son, Michael Depew and his wife Laurie; daughter-in-law, Leslie Depew; grandson, Kevin Daniel and his wife Erin Depew, Alexandra Depew Daniels, and Christopher M. Depew; great-grandchildren, Avery Depew, Emerson Depew, Ashton Depew and Skylar Naylor; and sister, Martha Campbell Hopkins.

An informal visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Funeral Home with interment following at Cook-Walden/Memorial Hill Cemetery in the Garden of the Good Shepherd.

Due to the current COVID protocols, guests are required to wear protective face masks at all times and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
