John served in the United States Air Force for 23 years. Upon his retirement in 1978, he continued to serve through civil service. John was most known by all of his friends and family as “Mr. John”. His wittiness, ability to make people laugh, and his animated stories were his most memorable and cherished characteristics. He will be deeply missed by all.
John is survived by his wife, Helen Coutee; siblings, Lola B. Hamilton, Lillian Spencer, Gerald Coutee, and Joe Coutee; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Ted Hillmon; daughter, Patricia Frazier; son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Debbie Coutee; daughter, Johnetta Marshall; daughter, Stephanie Coutee; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Reggie Bigham; daughter, Danah Coutee; grandson, Jerry Marshall; granddaughter, Jennifer Marshall; eighteen additional grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Rozzney Coutee and two brothers, James and Paul Coutee.
The family will greet guests at a visitation to be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 2, 2014 in the Memorial Chapel of Cook-Walden Capital Parks. Committal Services with military honors will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Parks Cemetery.
