Hien Thi Nguyen

Hien was born on July 10, 1946, in Phu Lien/Kien An, Hai Phong, in Vietnam. She attended Nguyen Ba Tong, and eventually started growing her family in 1964. Upon arriving in America in 1984 with her husband and four sons, she immediately demonstrated her perseverance and adaptability by continuing her education while contributing to the care of her family. Whether working at the Palmer House Hotel or at USRobotics, Hien always placed priority on ensuring that her sons valued education, family, and traditions.

In her free time, she loved listening to Vietnamese and French music and often enjoyed attending music shows in the Chicago Vietnamese community where she graced the dance floor. Over the years, she also found pleasure in welcoming family members from Vietnam and supporting their transition to American life. Whenever she had spare moments, Hien could be found reading news about health, psychology, and the Vietnamese community.

Family members still cherishing her memories include her sons, Linh Hung (Chinh), Linhhuy (Anh), Linhhuyen (Tuyet), and Linhhai (Lisa). She also lives on in the memories of her grandchildren: Hoang Nghi; Thien-Quang and Catlynh; Kristina and Emily; Jeremy Binh and Wesley Bao.

Hien was predeceased by her husband, Nguyen Huu Le; her father, Nguyen Van Nghi; and her mother, Bui Thi Vui.
