Dolores was a bright student and wrote for the high school newspaper in Rising Sun. She moved to Texas, where she met and married the love of her life, Eugene Burns. They were married for 62 years. Dolores was involved at Cooley elementary school in Houston as the PTA president and librarian while her son James, attended there.
She worked as a volunteer in several Houston political campaigns, Heights area historical Tours and other organizations. Dolores was a member of Heights Presbyterian Church in Houston Texas for over 60 years. She had many close friends in the Houston area. Some of her fondest memories were the road trips she took with her husband, Eugene, brother Vernon and sister in law, Vickie. She enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters, Melissa and Angie and great granddaughters Yviana and Lariella. She also loved country music, especially Alan Jackson.
Dolores is preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Burns; father, Russell Headley Fristoe; mother and step-father, Jaunita and Herman Dixon; and her sister, Wanda Robison.
Dolores is survived by her son, James Burns and his wife Angie of Round Rock, Texas; granddaughter, Angie Johnson and her husband Stephen of Hutto, Texas; granddaughter, Melissa Lehman and her husband Scott of Pflugerville, Texas; great-granddaughters, Yviana and Lariella Lehman of Pflugerville, Texas; brother Vernon Fristoe and his wife Vickie of Round Rock, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A visitation for Dolores will be held Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660, followed by a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. in the Walden Room of Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. She will be laid to rest at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
