Collin Paul Lovett was born in Austin, Texas on May 4, 1994 at Saint David's Hospital and passed away on January 23, 2014 at the same hospital. Collin had survived a near fatal car accident on October 19, 2013 and had been progressing very quickly with recovery at Texas Neuro Rehab in South Austin.
Collin attended Springhill Elementary, Kelly Lane Middle School and graduated from Hendrickson High School in Pflugerville, Texas. He was currently a sophomore at UTSA in San Antonio where he made straight A's last semester and worked part time at HEB as a checker and also refereed soccer on weekends. He played soccer from the time he was 5 years old through high school on both recreational and club teams. His high school teams made the finals of Regionals his Junior and Senior years and he obtained All State awards both those years for academics and also All District his Senior year for Defense. In addition to soccer Collin liked to play disc golf, tennis, and basketball.
Collin spent a lot of time the last 1 1/2 years with his girlfriend Hana Thai just hanging out and planning their future together. A very special LARGE HUG and WE LOVE YOU goes out to Hana for her continued Love and devotion to Collin during all his rehab time. You will always have a place in our hearts.
Collin was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pflugerville where he was baptized and confirmed. He went on many mission trips and gatherings and his last and most memorable was the canoe and camping trip to the Boundary Waters area in Minnesota. He and his family enjoyed family vacations every year and had recently gone on a cruise to the Caribbean, visited Williamsburg, Virginia and had visited family in Denver, Colorado. On his 18th birthday he stayed with family tradition (his brother Russell started) and parachuted out of an airplane.
Collin was preceded in death by his grandmother Christine Lovett, his grandfather Paul Shinefield and aunt Brenda Lovett Williams.
Collin is survived by his mother Vicki, father Bob, brother Russell, sisters Mallory and Sarah Matthews, grandmother Carolyn Rowe, grandfathers Wayne Lovett and Dale Rowe, aunts Paula Derryberry, Laura Shinefield and Laura Devereaux, uncles Cliff Lovett, Richard Derryberry, and Tim Shinefield, cousins Will Derryberry, Rebecca Derryberry, Nicki Shinefield, Conner Shinefield, Holly Lovett Horner, CJ Lovett, Taylor Lovett, Marcus Ferrese, Douglas Klingemann, Phillip Klingemann, brother-in-law Scott Matthews, niece Claire Matthews and nephew Bredt Matthews.
A scholarship fund in Collin's name has been started at Immanuel Lutheran Church (500 Immanuel Rd., Pflugerville, Texas 78660). Please send donations, in Lieu of flowers, to this annual award that will be monitored and distributed by ILC and Collin's family.
A special THANK YOU goes to the dedicated, caring and loving staff at Texas Neuro Rehabilitation Hospital who cared for Collin and us as he began his rehab.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road in Pflugerville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
