Anita was born in Austin, TX on September 27, 1959 to the late Joe C. and Modesta Ybarra.
A graduate of Del Valle High School, Anita was a member of the drill team. She went on to receive her Associates Degree from Austin Community College. It was during this time that she met her future husband and love of her life, Steve Carrizales. The two married on August 25, 1984 and they made their home in Round Rock, TX. Anita was employed with IBM for 25 years. Following that, she worked for Round Rock ISD at Cedar Ridge High School as an administrative assistant. She loved being a part of the school, enjoyed her coworkers, and seeing the students on a daily basis.
Before beginning a family of their own, Anita’s pride and joy were her Siamese cats. They were then blessed with two sons, Steven and Michael. Anita loved being their mother and watching them grow into the men they are today. She loved to watch them play baseball from the time they could hold a bat and well into adulthood. Anita was an avid baseball fan, not only for her own boys but for those near and dear to her. She would watch family members and her students play whenever she got the opportunity. She supported all her nieces and nephews when she could by attending sporting events and concerts. Along the way, Anita found that she was also a dog person. She took in her grand furbabies, Zeke and Carter, who never left her side and Phoenix, her beloved cat, was also never far away.
Shortly after being diagnosed with ALS, Anita was given her greatest gift of all, her granddaughter Kamryn Layne. Her face would light up when she saw and spoke of Kamryn. Being a grandmother brought her pure joy.
Anita is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Steve Carrizales, sons Steven Carrizales II and Michael Carrizales (Tiela) and granddaughter Kamryn Layne Carrizales. Also survived by brother Armando Ybarra (Denise), sister Teresa Ybarra (Andrew Romero) and sister-in-law Kim Ybarra. Anita is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Anita is preceded in death by her mother Modesta Ybarra, father Joe C. Ybarra, brother Arthur Ybarra, nephew Richard Ybarra and beloved guard dog Carter.
Anita notes that her greatest blessings and accomplishments were Steven and Michael. Her sons were everything to her and she was so proud of them and loved them very much.
Special thank you to Dr. Tramonte and staff, Jennifer Beckett, the ALS Association of Texas, Compassus Hospice, and all the numerous friends and family who helped Anita throughout her battle with ALS.
