When I think of dad, I think of the good, selfless and caring life he lived.  He taught my brother and me how to treat people and how to live life without regrets. You taught us that we are never better than others, just our circumstances were better. He and mom made sure we had everything we needed and it never seemed a struggle. You were always just a phone call away. 
Thank you dad for always being there for me and the boys. Thank you for being at all those baseball games, many times coming straight from work.  Thank you for being such an awesome Great Grandpa to Easton, Finnley and Luke James. We will make sure that Avery June (AJ) will know all about you. Every time Easton has a sleepover he sleeps in Pa’s bed. It is so cute.
Dad had so many friends from the barber shop that kept in touch with him after retiring or he would run in to them at HEB where on his daily run. His friendships were genuine.

My Grandfather AJ was such an amazing person and played such a huge role for me growing up. He was truly like a father to me. He was such a genuine and kindhearted person. He never spoke a bad word about anyone. He was always there for me and my family. There was never any sporting event that he missed. I will miss talking sports and hearing his jokes. I hope one day I can get close to filling his shoes. He taught me right from wrong and that life should be lived full of integrity and love. I'll miss him being the center of our jokes at family get togethers. Pa, you fought so hard for three and a half years and never gave up but unfortunately cancer ended up winning the battle. I'll never forget the love you had for your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids as long as I live. You were truly an amazing person and I'm extremely proud to call you my grandfather. I love you Pa!

On March 9, 2018 I lost my best friend and beloved husband. AJ and I were married for 59 1/2 years.  Some of those years were rough financially but we always had what we needed and had love and laughter, AJ was a pessimist and I was an optimist so we didn't always agree, which made it fun. 

AJ was a wonderful father and husband. He provided well for his family. He made sure our children had what they needed, no matter what. Kevin and Lisa were so loved by both of us,

AJ never met a stranger and could spend hours talking. He certainly picked the right profession and he enjoyed what he did.

AJ never had a bad word to say about anyone,

I miss you Love, I will be fine.  The children and grandchildren take good care of me. I feel your presence always.

I love you.

I have so many memories of AJ and the conversations we had. One of the most endearing qualities AJ had was his sense of humor.  Countless times, he would catch me off guard with his quick wit and could easily keep up with his grandkids when the jokes started flying.  I will always remember that sheepish grin he’d have after he cracked a joke that was inappropriate, almost pleased with himself that he still had it after all these years.
Anytime I had a conversation with AJ, he would intently listen, well except when he wouldn’t put in his hearing aides.  At that point, we really never knew what he heard!  But with his hearing aides in, some of the best conversations I had with AJ were about his memories of him and Patsy early on in their marriage and memories of  Lisa, Kevin and Chad growing up.  When we would talk, he was genuinely invested in our lives and the lives of my family that weren’t related to him.  My father also passed away from cancer and during his treatment, AJ would ask about him anytime that I saw him.  He sat with me as I explained each part of my father’s stem cell transplant and chemo process and asked me thoughtful questions that really demonstrated how invested he was with my father’s wellbeing.  I will never ever forget the support he showed me during that time.   After my father passed away, I gravitated even closer to AJ as he became even more like the father and grandfather that I no longer had.  When he was diagnosed with cancer, I told him he would need to fight hard because Finnley, our daughter, would need twice the love from him since she had lost her other grandfather.  And he did, he showed her so much love. He also taught her how important ice cream was and would feed her ice cream from his bowl while she sat on his lap during the day.  AJ will live on through the memories that each of us made with him and the beautiful memories we will share with one another, our children and their children to come.  

I have so many wonderful memories of growing up and a lot of them center around the best parents a kid could have. Mom and Dad always put Lisa and I first. They worked hard and sacrificed so we always had whatever we needed. We always did so many fun things as a family, whether it was going on vacation, camping, or just spending time at home. We had a typical middle-class upbringing but it was so much more and we knew it. 
Dad was an awesome guy who we loved so much. He was the leader of our whole family so we all had a perfect example of how to live our lives the right way.
We miss you buddy but we all know you’re feeling great now and you’re getting to watch all the future ballgames, dance recitals, school plays and family holiday s from the best seat in the house!

Patsy, Kevin & Lisa.....We hold many fond memories of A.J., coaching youth baseball together, as Reagan Raider boosters, our after-game meals and celebrations, attending numerous Longhorn games and regular visits to his barber's chair.  He was a good friend and he will be missed.  We hope the legacy of love he left with  you will be a source of strength and comfort for you now.  May your grief pass swiftly and may the precious memories in the scrapbook of your heart last forever.

I just watched the Sam Bass 1998 a season for champions DVD. Pasty and AJ were in the video. I always remember them supporting their grandchildren , and being at every game possible. What a sweet memorie for us all. AJ was a truly a wonderful Man. We will miss you! Xo

AJ will be forever remembered by his wife of 59 years, Patsy Bammert and their precious children, Kevin Bammert and Lisa Lindeman.  AJ will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Chad and Robin Lindeman, William (Pete) and Ashley Lindeman, Dustin Lindeman, Brett and Brittany Bammert, Brittany and Dillon Dees, his great grandchildren, Easton, Finnley and Luke Lindeman and his brother, Harold Lloyd Bammert.  AJ will also be fondly remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
