Stephen Robert Casey

Peacefully surrounded by family at Hospice Peterborough on Thursday June 6, 2024 at the age of 74. Beloved husband for 51 years to Joan Casey (Laton). Dear father of Nicole Plunkett (Paul) and Drew Casey of Peterborough. Devoted Papa to Grace, Frances and Molly Plunkett, Kieran and Aella Casey. Loving brother of Jane Healey (Dave and their family Cam & Lauren, Mitch & Kennedy) and the late Christina “Tina” Casey. Son of the late John and June Casey (McGregor). Brother-in-law of Donna Gabriel (Fritz), the late Fred Laton (living – Phyllis), Dianne Thompson (Roger), Jan Self (Steve), and Don Laton (Carolyn). Steve will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews and special friends and travel buddies Bill and Andrea Auckland and Garth and Mary Jane Stoner.

Steve is the longest serving past Chairman of the Peterborough Liftlock Atom Hockey Tournament, member of St. Anne's Knights of Columbus, Peterborough & District Sports Hall of Fame Inductee and volunteer, and lifelong volunteer of the Peterborough Church League. He retired after 39 years from G.E. Canada where he was head of Plant Maintenance. Steve was a die hard Leafs fan and couldn't get through a day without his Tim Horton's coffee.

Friends will be received at the COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE 356 Rubidge St., Wednesday June 12, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral mass will be held at ST. ANNE’S CHURCH 859 Barnardo Ave. on Thursday June 13, 2024 at 12:30 pm followed by interment at Emily Cemetery, Omemee. The family will receive family and friends after the interment at St. Anne’s Parish Hall. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice Peterborough or the Canadian Cancer Society. Special thanks for Steve’s excellent care from Dr. Morelli and the amazing staff at Hospice Peterborough.
