Dad passed away peacefully with family holding his hands on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at Peterborough Regional Health Centre. He was in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Yvonne (Smokey) Connelly (nee-Lee). Proud dad of Kathryn McGillivray (Jim), Maureen Lalonde (Claude), Mark Connelly (Sandi), Sue Connelly-King (Lance), and the late Jane Connelly. Cherished grandpa of 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Dad’s career started as a mechanic. He was the youngest in a band of brothers fondly remembered as owning the “Connelly Brother’s Gas Station” on McDonnel St. Next came “Connelly Minute Muffler” on Rubidge St. with his brother Clare.
Dad and Clare raised the iconic Muffler still there today. Moving on from the automotive business he and his brother in law Donnie Lee opened the first Mr. Donut in Peterborough. Finally, Dad proudly sold real estate with Don Herriman at Century 21 until retirement. Dad, his son Mark and both Don’s shared a love of hunting and fishing together… that only gamesmen can appreciate. Thank you to the PRHC Palliative team and Dr. Morelli for your tender care. A very special callout to Dad’s Dialysis Team at PHRC these past 5 years. His rotation of amazing RN’s, Nephrologists, and support team 3 days per week became his second family. Special callouts to Pam, Casse and Tara. He adored you.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH (208 Romaine Street, Peterborough). Also, A Celebration of Frank's life will be held at Dad's home from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to COMSTOCK-KAYE LIFE CELEBRATION CENTRE, 356 Rubidge Street. Memorial donations to the P.R.H.C – Dialysis Unit would be appreciated. Online condolences may be made at www.comstockkaye.com
