David died peacefully at home, with his devoted wife of 53 years by his side.
David was affectionately known for his sense of adventure, and an unbridled will for life. Some of his happiest memories were rugged backcountry fishing trips in Algonquin Park with family and friends. He was an accomplished downhill skier, and amazed us all by his grace carving down the slopes. Golf, he did avidly for many years, and spoke of his wish to go for a round until his final days. Bird hunting with lifelong friends in Saskatchewan was a treasured annual ritual.
He loved his family deeply and his adoration was a significant presence in our lives. He was loved by a large circle of friends - especially his village of loyal and supportive friends at Peterborough Bridge Club. Bridge was a favourite activity right up to the week before his death.
Dad taught us all so much and will be missed intensely, but his indelible spirit will live on through us. Remembered fondly by his wife of 53 years, Pat, his sister Julia, his son Mike (Joanne), daughter Heather (Jon), and 6 grandkids: Courtney, Nicole, Zoë, Walker, Stella, and Payton.
An informal gathering in celebration of David's life will be held at Peterborough Golf & Country Club, 1030 Armour Road, Peterborough on Wednesday, November 29 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. We look forward to sharing stories and some food and drink with you.
