Darrin McMeekin

McMeekin, Darrin Patrick ~ Passed away, surrounded by love, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto at the age of 49. Darrin leaves behind his wife Angela White and her children Kristen Hogan, Vanessa Hogan and Justine Hogan. Adored “Papa” to 7 grandchildren. Darrin will also be greatly missed by his parents Tom McMeekin and Sharon Martin (George Martin) and brothers Tom McMeekin (Tammy McMeekin) and Chris McMeekin (Lisa Cranley). Loving uncle to Sophia McMeekin. Darrin moved out west in the late 1990s but didn’t find an occupation that he enjoyed. When he moved back to Peterborough around 2003 his father took him under his wing and got him started in trucking. He had found his calling, and in the following years he honed his skills. He met Angie and built himself a good life, ultimately owning his own truck. He was very proud of his truck and he enjoyed keeping the chrome highly polished. He worked hard to provide for his family, and proved himself to be reliable and trustworthy. He was well liked by his employers and his customers. Darrin loved animals of all sorts. He adopted his first cat from the Humane Society, and he liked to show off his freshwater fish tank, which included a unique eel and other interesting creatures. His animals were always well cared for. He will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness. His Halloween displays were epic! Christmas was an opportunity for him to give to everyone he loved. In keeping with Darrin's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at the Comstock-Kaye Life Celebration Centre, 356 Rubidge St., Peterborough on Thursday, May 25th from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. In Darrin's memory, a donation to the Peterborough Humane Society would be appreciated.
