Susan Ebeling

Susan Kay Ebeling, 61, of Peoria, passed away at her home at 7:00 am on Friday, July 13, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Susan was born on February 28, 1951, in Kewanee, IL, to Eugene E. and Dorothy M. (Oliver) Johnson. She married Gary A. Ebeling at Immanuel Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MO, on April 10, 1983. He survives.

She is survived by her two daughters, Robin (Robert, Jr) Flemming of Peoria, Rachel (Anthony) Blodgett of Brimfield, a son: Ross of Peoria; two sisters: Diane (Frank) Reed of Hudson, IL, Gail (Michael) Grady of Edmond, OK, and a brother: Robert (Gailyn) Johnson of Kewanee; a brother-in-law: James (Sharon) Ebeling, two sisters-in-law: Mary Ellen (Michael) Pratt, and Laura (Brad) Meyer, all of St. Charles, MO; two uncles: Stan Johnson of Carol Stream, IL and William Oliver of Kewanee.

Also surviving are five grandchildren, whom she adored: Camden, Mason, Alexis, Shelby and Bobby; two nieces: Kami and Katie: seven nephews: Kristopher, Eric, Jeremy, Tyler, Ethan, Aidan, and Joel; four great-nieces: Kenzi, Emily, Cheyenne and Payton; two great-nephews: Kole and A.J.; and three cousins.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

Following graduation from Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, Susan embarked on a career as an x-ray technologist, graduating from the radiologic technology program at Kewanee Public Hospital in 1971. That same year she began a career in the Radiology Department at Proctor Hospital that would span more than 35 years, including several years as the administrative head of the department. She retired as an MRI technologist at Proctor in 2008 when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

Sue was an active volunteer at Concordia Lutheran School, which her children attended, and she made it a point to attend all of their activities and sporting events, both there and also during their high school years at Central and Notre Dame. Needless to say, her children, grandchildren and extended family were her life, and she was a major contributor to the profits of Hallmark because of all the birthday, wedding, anniversary, graduation, baptism, etc., cards she sent over the years. The verse Proverbs 31:28 fits her perfectly.

Sue loved her church, Redeemer Lutheran, and her extended church family of nearly 30 years there.

Visitation for Sue will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home at 2408 W. Willow Knolls Rd. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6801 N. Allen Rd., with Senior Pastor Joseph Meyer and Associate Pastor Ted Benson officiating. Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, Sue has asked that memorials be made to an educational fund established at Members Choice Credit Union for the benefit of her pride and joy, her grandchildren.
