He was born October 19, 1924 in Annawan, IL to Robert and Doris (Browning) Reider. He married Joan Gray on December 26, 1948 in LaGrange, IL.
Surviving is Joan, his wife of 67 years. Also surviving are one son, Robert G. Reider of Springfield, IL, three daughters: Christine (Rockton) Hitt of St. Charles, IL, Susan (Ben) Mallory of Morris, IL, Carol (Chris) Benson of Palatine, IL; eleven grandchildren: Angela Reider Caputo, Lindsey Hitt, Trevor Hitt, Joe (Brittany) Mallory, Sarah Mallory, Ross Mallory, Kate Mallory, Michael (Laura) Benson, Julie (Jim) Thomson, Jennifer Benson and Lisa Benson, and six great-grandchildren: Anna, Jack, Raegen, Eliza, Christopher and Greta.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter, Lauren Mallory Elder.
Bob was a WII Army Air Corp. Veteran, serving in the 17th Weather Squadron in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity; he received a degree in engineering in 1949 from Bradley University. His employment included Allis-Chalmers, REDCO, and he owned and operated Management Recruiters Employment Agency.
Bob was a member of the American Legion, Air Weather Association, a member of the Scottish Rite, a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was a long time member of Timberlake Club and its golf leagues. He was a member of the University United Methodist Church.
Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Shepherd’s Way at Proctor Place for their kindness and exceptional care of Bob these last two years.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday April 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Proctor Place in the auditorium. Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to Proctor Place or the University United Methodist Church.
