Thinking of how you would be so proud of me and all my growth these past years, so happy for me your grandkids finding good people to call their own, relationships that reflect the love you and Papa had. 
And I correctly named a seam ripper the other day and I just knew you were smiling down on me for that!

Sue and I share a birthday and a love of art. We never had the opportunity to meet in person, but we communicated once each ear. I shall miss my notes and cards from Sue, and I shall miss her sweet essence in my life.  
Much love and invisible hugs to her dear family.

  Sue was a beloved friend of my mother, Juanita. The two of them had so many adventures together and watching their friendship taught me at a young age that having “Mom” friends is a necessity. 
  One of my favorite authors likened this type of relationship to a tribe of elephants who will close rank around you at your most vulnerable. She said, “Those who will stand beside you no matter what.  They love your babies like their own, love you when you're at your worst, rally when you get a win, and will give you the hard truth in love when you need it.”  Sue was this kind of friend for my mom and her family is interwoven with the memories of my childhood. 
  Bill and kids, please know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers and that I’m holding you close to my heart. 

So many beautiful memories filled with faith and song. God bless the Alexander’s!

Sue and I met through our shared experience with brain tumors, but quickly became friends. If we hadn’t seen or spoken with each other in a while, we could still carry on like it was only a day or so - she was just that type of person! We were planning to get together over coffee soon (just another love we shared). We also loved our David Bailey music. I will so miss her, especially knowing that she was only a phone call or text away.  Until we meet again, Sue, “Keep on Walking”

Sue was a beautiful person. She could light a room up with her smile and I can’t remember a time she wasn’t smiling. I have known Sue for almost as long as I knew Stan. I still remember the day we met and her telling me that she always thought Stan could be a bad influence on Bill (she was probably right😉).  We became friends the first time we met.  She was such a wonderful person and she was always concerned about everyone in her life and wanted to make you feel loved. I have been truly blessed to have her as a friend. 

Sue definitely welcomed me into the Alexander family from the day Chris brought me to meet her and Bill.   From that first meeting, I could tell what a caring, compassionate and genuinely wonderful woman she was.  She not only accepted me as another daughter (way before Chris and I married) but accepted my children Casie and Cody and then grandchildren Everett, Charlotte and Truitt as her own.  I will miss her warm smiles, hugs and love.  It brings comfort knowing she is with Chris now.

I was her housekeeper at Heartland in Galesburg. She was so nice and sweet to me. RIP u are going to be missed 🖤💜

I met Sue when she worked for Bonnie Noble at Heartland Water Resources Council, appreciated her insights from her work at the Diocese, and stayed in touch when she followed Bonnie to work at Peoria Park District.  I particularly enjoyed learning of her genealogical research and her hosting of a VanSant reunion that included a tour I guided at Springdale for her extended family.  Rest In Peace, dear lady.          


Sue had the great gift of love and laughter which she taught her family to always give to everyone they met. You felt like family, and loved immediately upon meeting her. I wish her family peace and prayers to heal them in their time of grief. I will miss her but know she is safe and happy in heaven.  Love always.  Nancy Randall 


We will always remember Sue for her smile, her kindness, and her zest for life.  We treasure our memories of time with her during family reunions, and the lovely dinner we shared when she and Bill visited California. Love you mommy! Will miss you every day of my life.  I have so many great memories of you to get me through each day. Loved how you would sing to us. My Baby Bunting keeps going through my head. Would do anything to hear you sing that again. Glad to know you know how I have and will always feel about you!!! 

How I loved to tease my Grandma, she couldn’t stand the smell of peppermint, and I would love to eat a peppermint candy, or gum, or a candy cane, sit on her lap and have her smell my breath. She would jokingly scold me, and I just loved it. Then she would get me back with her coffee breath in the mornings. Oh Grandma and her coffee. Getting to live with her and Grandpa was definitely unexpected, but it helped me in so many ways to become the woman I am today. I will miss crawling on her lap and watching the worries just slide away. I will miss her lessons, whether I wanted to hear them or not, there was always something to learn from every situation.
