He was born on June 20, 1944 in Peoria, IL. to Wayne and Pearl Colvin. He married Janet Fisher on December 9, 1962. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Mark (Maureen) Colvin residing in Dunlap, IL and Darren (Angie) Colvin residing in Clayton, North Carolina. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joshua (Tory) Colvin from St. Petersburg, Florida and Megan Colvin from Peoria Heights, Illinois. He is also survived by his sister Patricia (Russ) Mulvaney from Columbia City, Indiana, his brother Terry (Diane) Colvin from O’Fallon, Illinois, and sister-in-law, Mary Colvin, from Lacon, IL, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jeanie and Jack VanLeirsburg from Batavia, IL along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Larry Colvin.
Dick married the love of his life right after high school and they were married for over sixty years. He graduated from Woodruff Class of 1962 and Janet graduated from Richwoods. Dick spent most of his working years as a printer for International Paper Co., retiring in 1995 when the plant shut down. Dick was a kind and generous soul who loved spending time with his family and friends. He also loved civil war memorabilia, especially civil war artifacts with a history in Peoria.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 15th at Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on Allen Road and Willow Knolls Drive. Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. with the funeral immediately following. Cremation has been accorded. Burial at Jubilee Churchyard Cemetery will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Fund at University United Methodist Church or The Illinois Cancer Care - in Richard’s name.
