Rae was born on September 22, 1953, in Peoria to Harold “Bill” and Margaret Hahn Perrine. She graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, dedicating her life to teaching and sharing her love of music. She married John Michael “Mike” Wilbanks on September 21, 2000, in Peoria. He survives.
A loving and dedicated mother, she is also survived by her son, Doug (Meagan) Stone of Baton Rouge, LA; her daughter, DeAnn Ingersoll (nee Stone) of Peoria; grandchildren, David, Dylan, Derek, and Drew Stone of Baton Rouge, LA and Liam Thompson, James Ingersoll and Ava Ingersoll, all of Peoria. Rae is also survived by her stepchildren, Matt (Jennifer) Wilbanks and Brett (Jen) Wilbanks, both of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Rita Brown; and stepdaughter, Missy Bell.
Rae’s life was one of creativity, compassion, and dedication. As a young woman, she earned the title of Miss Heart of Illinois in 1976 and was a finalist in the Miss Illinois pageant. A gifted singer, Rae was a member of the Bradley Chorale. She was also a devoted music teacher for District 150 and other area school districts, where she impacted countless students’ lives, sharing her love of music and fostering talent and confidence in the next generation. She was a member of Northwest United Methodist where she was choir director. Though Rae struggled with her health her faith remained incredibly strong, guiding her through challenges and inspiring those around her.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
