Joshua Nathan Moore, 26, of Creve Coeur, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 at his home. Josh was born November 2, 1990 in Peoria, Illinois to Robert and Lisa (Shernak) Moore. Surviving are his parents, of Creve Coeur; his grandparents, Karen Van Gulik of Creve Coeur, Judy Moore of Naperville, Illinois, and Ronald and Barbara Shernak of Houston Texas ; his sister, Jessica (Jeremy) Mahrt of East Peoria; his best friends, Adrian Smith and Anthony Maple; his dogs, Phoenix and Hades; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Frank Moore and Ben Van Gulik and his grandmother, Barbara Moore. He was a 2009 graduate of East Peoria High School. Josh was a US Army veteran serving with the 724th Transportation Company in Bartonville attaining the rank of Sergeant. He is remembered by his comrades as a good soldier and friend. He had worked at Lowes in East Peoria since 2013. Josh will be remembered for his big heart and willingness to give to others. He loved gaming and his animals. He was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and New England Patriots. He enjoyed simple things in life like hanging out with friends and having a good time. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Monday, March 27th at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St, Peoria. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2020 West Malone St. in Peoria with the Rev. Karl Eckhoff officiating. Additional visitation will be on Tuesday, 9:00-9:45 am prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria with military funeral honors presented by members of his unit. Memorials are suggested to the Wounded Warriors Project.
