James “Jim” S. Traver, 83, of Holly Hill, FL, passed away July 27, 2014, at his residence in the company of his three children. Born in Jacksonville, IL, and primarily residing in Peoria, IL, Jim moved to the Daytona area in 2000 from Cincinnati, Ohio. A Navy veteran serving during the Korean War, Jim retired as a tool-design supervisor after 36 years at Caterpillar Inc. He was an avid golfer, last playing on May 15th, and was a member of Riviera Country Club in Holly Hill, FL. Jim enjoyed coin collecting, hunting morel mushrooms, restoring antique cars and annual family trips to Daytona Beach. He was very devoted to family and friends and to being of service to others. Jim donated over fifty gallons of blood to the American Red Cross over the course of his life. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Emalene D. (Andell) Traver; a close companion, Connie Barnhart; and a brother, Earl A. Traver. Survivors include his wife, Velma (Siggers) Traver; a daughter, Michelle R. Traver, Portland, OR; two sons, James A. (Cynthia), East Peoria, IL and Gregory Scott, Peoria, IL; two brothers, Richard H., Washington, IL and Jerome D., Williamsburg, VA; four grandchildren, Amy (Bryan) Fuller, Scott Traver, Alyssa Traver and Benjamin Beiser; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma and Madison; step daughters, Cathy Siggers (Lewis) Goode and Christy Siggers Ahlin and step sons, Eric Siggers (Gail Lipic) and John Siggers; nine step-grandchildren and ten step great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 – 2 pm Friday, August 8, 2014 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, IL. Inurnment will be in Parkview Cemetery.
