Delores Ellen DeLong, 90, of Sterling, Illinois, formerly of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at Rock River Hospice & Home in Sterling. She was born on January 31, 1932 in Peoria, a daughter of Leroy and Dorothea (Gunn) Teasdale. Delores married Lowell DeLong on July 23, 1953 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on February 14, 1992 in Peoria.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Teasdale; sister, June Campbell; and step-son, Richard DeLong.
Delores is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosalie Teasdale; step-son, Dan (Melanie) DeLong; nieces, Sandy (Larry) Reaver, Jean (Roy) Cooper, Mary Teasdale, and Cynthia Morgan; nephews, Bob (Sue) Doss, Ken (Julie) Doss, and David (Kim) Teasdale. She is also survived by several great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
She graduated from Peoria High School in 1950 and went to work at Del Mar Barber & Beauty Shop. She then went on to be a phone operator before working for Ruppman Marketing Services in 1971. Delores worked for Ruppman for 33 years, retiring in 2004.
Delores enjoyed bowling, crocheting, trips to Las Vegas with Lowell and she always made sure to pick up lottery tickets. She joined United Presbyterian Church in 2005 and enjoyed bible study, exercise class, and took family members along to church when they were visiting from out of town.
The funeral service for Delores will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at the Davison-Fulton-Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home in Peoria. Rev. Debra Avery will officiate. Her visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. also on Saturday at the funeral home. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
