She was born in Seoul, South Korea and immigrated to the United States in the early 1970s, a decision that would shape her life in so many ways. Kim married David Zears in Peoria on May 8, 1984, he survives. Kim proudly gained her U.S. citizenship on May 6, 1988, a moment that she cherished deeply.
Kim is also survived by her brother and sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Kim was a lively, bright, and spirited individual who touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was an avid gardener, finding joy and peace in nurturing her plants and watching them grow. Kim also had a profound love for animals, and her kindness extended to every creature she encountered.
Her daily walks, often accompanied by a loved one or a furry friend, were a testament to the simple joys in life.
A skilled and passionate cook, Kim was known for her ability to create delicious and authentic Asian cuisine. Her kitchen was always filled with the smells of her culinary creations, and she loved sharing these meals with her family, making every gathering a special occasion.
Kim’s love for her family knew no bounds. She cherished every moment with her loved ones, always ready with a smile, a kind word, and a hug.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13, 2024 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, Peoria. Cremation rites will be accorded after the visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made in Kim’s name to the Southside Mission.
