Charles Leon Heffner was born July 1, 1950, in West, Mississippi to Charlie and Lorean (Prymer) Heffner. He was the eldest of three children. At the age of three his family relocated to Waterloo, Iowa. He was educated in the Waterloo Public Schools. He was an avid wrestler and graduated from East High School. He furthered his education at Hawkeye Technical School with a degree in Electronics.
Charles continued living there for 26 years before moving to Peoria, Illinois in 1980 with his fiancé Roslyn Page. They were married in Holy Matrimony on March 19, 1983, at Friendship Baptist Church. Together they shared five beautiful children.
Charles worked for General Electric for 14 years as a service technician and went on to own RJ’s Maytag appliance store for 9 years before retiring in 2020. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He also spent time listening to various types of music, fishing, and collecting Invicta watches. Anyone who met Charles was blessed to hear him spend countless hours sharing stories about his Invicta watches!
He was preceded in death by both parents, brother (James Heffner), sister (Betty Ann Heffner), and nephew (Anthony Heffner).
He is survived by his wife Roslyn, one brother Michael Crawford, 5 children, Anthony Smith, RaiCheton (James) Le, Kadar Heffner, Tia Heffner, and Shadai Heffner; 13 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
Charles departed this life peacefully on Monday, November 7, 2022, at his residence. He will be truly missed by his family and loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held an hour prior to the services. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memory Gardens. Davison-Fulton Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home will be overseeing the arrangements.
