Arlene Whitaker

Born on May 4, 1928 in Olney, IL to Arvel and Bessie (Jorgenson) Chandler; she married Harry Whitaker on April 23, 1950 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2017 in Peoria.

Surviving are her sons, Gary (Becky) and Dan (Kim), all of Moline, IL; grandchildren, Christopher (Laurie) of Morton, Jeff (Megan) of Rock Island, Michael (Kara) of Iowa City, Emily of Rock Island, John (Brynn) of Bedford, NY, Sarah (Aaron) Seiler of Centennial, CO, and Mark (Kristy) of Glen Ellyn, IL; 13 great grandchildren; brother, Bill (Jean) Chandler of Olney, IL; and sister, Carol Jane Bursott of Noble, IL.

Arlene was a Registered Nurse, having completed her training at St. Francis School of Nursing in 1950. She spent her nursing career at St. Francis Hospital in Peoria.

In retirement, Harry and Arlene spent 28 winters in Alabama. She loved spending time with her family and close Peoria friends. She also loved baking and will be most remembered for the wonderful pies she made. She proudly served several charitable boards and organizations throughout the Peoria area.

She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, 2021 N. University St in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, 10:00 to 11:00 am at the chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Bradley University Athletics or Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria.
