Walter was born May, 6 1947 in Grande Camp les Bain, Normandy, France. When he was three years old he came to the United States sailing with his mother on the Queen Mary.
Walter attended Pensacola Christian, Ferry Pass Middle School and Pensacola High School. After high school graduation he went to college at Pensacola. Followed by Jeff Davis Jr. College in Brewton Alabama, with an AA degree. He attended the University of West Florida graduating with a BA degree, becoming a social worker with the State of Florida. In 1977 he decided to attend the University of Wyoming, Laramie, WY obtaining a BS degree in pharmacy. During his time at University, he went to Sanford College in Birmingham, AL during the summer.
Walter retired as a Pharmacist with Pfeiffer Drugs, Pensacola, Fl., in 2010 as a result of his illness. Before Pfeiffer Drugs, he worked at Eckerds, CVS, Target, Albertsons and Publix.
He loved to play golf. And as much as he loved golf, he was usually late for tee time and his golf partners had to wait on him.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Giselle Bernet Zuk.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; daughter, Lorraine Korb (Jeffrey) and son, Joseph McElroy (Susan) both from Tampa, Fl.; Grandchildren, Claire and Madeline McElroy, Tripp and Gemma Korb; Step-daughter, Tracey Johnson; step-granddaughter, Holly Johnson, Step-grandson, Nicholas Johnson.
Pallbearers are: Ted Frederickson, Dean Patterson, Clay Springer, Joseph McElroy, Jeffrey Korb, Tim Jordan, Tony Coffield, Jeffrey Korb and Joseph Schiller. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Riley, Ted Frederickson, Rusty Dillard, Michael Haile and the Pensacola High Class of 1965.
Visitation will be at St. Paul Catholic Church, 3131 Hyde Park Rd, Pensacola, Florida from 10:00 am to 11: 00 am. The Mass of Christian burial will follow. Interment will be at Bayview Memorial Park, and a Celebration of Life reception will follow the interment at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
The family would like to thank the Beacon, Regency Hospice, and the many friends of Walter and Beverly who have been by their side for the last seven years.
