Theodore D. Simmons, age 81, of Pace, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Theodore D. Simmons, Jr. was born in Pensacola, Florida on November 28, 1937 to Theodore D. Simmons, Sr. and Lois Watson Simmons.
Theodore graduated from Pensacola High School and then decided to serve his country in the tank division of the Army. After his many years of service in the Army, Theodore worked at Devoe Paint and later owned and operated Home Color Center, Inc. for 34 years until he retired in 2007.
Theodore was a member of Olive Baptist Church for many years and later became a member of Emanuel Baptist. He enjoyed retirement and spent most of such time working in the yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Theodore was preceded in death by his parents.
Theodore is survived by his wife, JoAnne Simmons; sister, Shirley Lee; son, Lonnie (Margaret) Simmons; daughter, Debra Ann Carr and Linda (Mike) Davis; grandsons, Jeremy (Kimberly) Boccabella, Daniel Woodruff, and Nathan Woodruff; great granddaughter, Brianna Boccabella; and great grandsons, Elijah Woodruff, Brayden Woodruff, and Ethan Boccabella.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with Pastor Jeff Hemley officiating. Visitation will also be held Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Theodore will be placed in the mausoleum at Bayview Memorial Park.
