In the early evening of Thursday, November 14, 2024, Sylvia Mae Heath O’Camb, 87, of Pensacola, passed peacefully into eternal rest with her dear friend, Teresa K. Robinson, by her side, and her loving family and friends.
Sylvia was born at the old Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola on Tuesday, July 13, 1937 to parents Irene and Mickey Heath.
Sylvia grew up in Pensacola and was a member of Pensacola High School, Class of 1955.
During her lifetime Sylvia worked as a homemaker, a microfilmer, and in the Food Service Department at Naval Air Station Pensacola.
She was a faithful member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Additionally, she was a Red Cross Volunteer at Naval Hospital Pensacola for several decades. Sylvia had a generous nature, a loving spirit, and was a very faithful servant of her Lord. Throughout her life she enjoyed the beautiful beaches of her community and all water related activities including fishing and crabbing with her family and friends. She had the biggest soft spot in her heart for all animals and loved their company.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas E. O’Camb; her son, Jeffrey Nelson; and her brother, Donald M. Heath.
Sylvia leaves behind to mourn her passing and celebrate and cherish her memory her daughter, Deborah Nelson and her son, Andrew Nelson; her sisters, Loretta Rhodes and Christy Heath; and her bestie cousin, Ruby Kay Severy; along with her beautiful granddaughters and great grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends.
A celebration of Sylvia’s life will be held at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Visitation at 10am, Eulogy at 11am, Departure to Barrancas National Cemetery at 12pm for a graveside committal service at 1pm.
Also, in lieu of flowers, as Sylvia loved her animals, a donation may be made to "A HOPE" in Milton, FL at 5755 Washington St, Milton, FL 32570 or the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida at 105 N "S" St, Pensacola, FL 32505.
