Shirley Mae Vidacak Pittman, age 86, of Gulf Breeze, was called home December 17, 2021. She was born July 29, 1935 in St. Louis, MO to the late Eli and Grace Wells Vidacak. She shared a close bond with her four brothers, six sisters, her extended family, nieces and nephews where she loved attending their annual family reunions in St. Louis.
Shirley met the love of her life, the late Bertrand G. Pittman II, a marine passing through St. Louis for training and after knowing each other for a week, a long distance proposal led to 47 years of marriage until his passing.
She was a home maker and was always involved in her children's activities, becoming a boy scout den mother and a softball coach. She later worked with her dear friend Bytha at Holly Navarre Water.
Shirley took joy in league bowling and golfing with her husband. She also loved the many family camping trips close to home and on the road. She loved spending time with family and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After the passing of her husband she joined the Belles and Beauxs with her good friend Billie Jean, where she sang and performed at many nursing homes spreading her joy and love for others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings.
Those left with fond memories are her sons, Bertrand G. Pittman III (Dawn); David Pittman (Shelly); daughters, Donna Horwath (Gary); Carolyn Smith (Rodney); grandchildren, Ryan, Stephen, Grace, Andrew Horwath; Nathan Schwartz (Brittany); Greg Schwartz (Natalie); Chloe Eidam (Matt); Alicia Smith; Rachel Rockhill (Jimmy); five great grandchildren, Brennan and Emmie Schwartz; Samuel and Katelyn Schwartz; and Jack Rockhill.
A special thanks and gratitude is expressed to her loving caregiver, Mary Kay Daniels and to the team of nurses and caregivers with Covenant Hospice.
