1939 - 2013
Sandy M. Doll, 74, of pensacola, died May 1, 2013 after a septic infection. She was born on April 15, 1939 in West Point, GA. She is predeceased by her parents, James Willard and Margaret Edwards and brother, James Willard Edwards, Jr.
Sandy is survived by her beloved husband and best friend Dr. Richard E. Doll; son, David L. (Beverly) Carlan; son, Larry E. (Tracey) Carlan; stepsons, Kevin (Joyce) Doll and Michael Doll of Pensacola, FL; stepdaughters Juliet Doll of Jacksonville, FL and Amy Doll of Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Wesley Carlan and Courtney Carlan of Suwanee, GA; Morgan Carlan and Brooke Carlan of Pensacola, FL; stepgrandchildren, Madison of Charleston, SC; Zoe and Hayden of Jacksonville, FL; and sisters, Beverly Spivey and Debra Morkes of Valley, AL. Sandy also leaves behind her constant companion, her beloved dog, Mulligan.
Sandy attended Auburn University, and enjoyed a brief career as a legal secretary after which she pursued a career in real estate. In 1978, Sandy was instrumental in starting a successful real estate company, Bay Realty of Pensacola. She was the Broker and President of same for twenty years prior to her retirement in 2004. She was a member of several local, state, and national real estate associations.
Sandy had a very special talent for decorating and her homes were always filled with beautiful antique pieces of furniture and a long time collection of artwork. Sandy and Richard both had a passion for traveling and had spent many trips here in the States as well as abroad. During the past several years Sandy has spent enjoyable times at their cabin in Maggie Valley, NC with Richard and family members. Sandy felt very fortunate to belong to several bridge clubs that consisted of some of her most close friends for over forty years. Sandy was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church.
A mass in celebration of the life of Sandy will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 10am. A rosary will be held at 9:30am, before the service. Procession to Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel will follow, where the family will receive visitors at a reception from 11:30am to 1:30pm. A private burial will take place at a later time that day at Bayview Memorial Park. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel has been entrusted with arrangements.
