Sunny David, a native of Haleyville, Alabama passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015 at the Robertsdale Health and Rehab Center in Foley, Alabama. She will be missed by her husband of over 31 years, Ron David, his sons, Ralph and Glenn and grandsons, Ryan and Aaron and many other relatives and friends. A newspaper reporter for 15 years, she received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Samford University in Birmingham and a master's degree in communication from the University of Wisconsin. She has been on the reporting staffs of the Pensacola News Journal, the Tampa Tribune, the Fresno Bee and the Atlanta Constitution. She also spent 30 years with the Federal Government working in Public Relations positions with the Army, the Veterans Administration, and the U.S. Forest Service. She has also written a children's book, "Deion Runs Again," and "The Lost Bay: A History of Perdido Bay and Perdido Key. She has also been involved in many community activities including the Library in Orange Beach and The Treasures of the Isle, a Mardi-Gras Krewe. A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16 at 4PM on the beach behind the Flora-Bama with a reception afterwards in the main bar at the Flora-Bama. Jeremy Mount, the pastor of the famous "Worship on the Water" services at the Flora-Bama on Sunday mornings, will conduct the service. On Monday, Aug. 17 at 11AM, a formal service will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola for her final rest. Everyone is invited to both events.
