It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of Milton B. Rogers on September 4, 2021. Milton was born on June 22, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William C. Rogers and Mary Alice Rogers. He loved his country and served as a lieutenant in the US Air Force. Later he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville and his Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Florida. He moved to Pensacola in the early 1960’s and worked for Escambia Chemical Corporation, as a project manager. Milton later joined Merrill Lynch and went on to become a Senior Vice President, member of the Chairman’s Club, and member of the Quarter Century Club before his retirement.
Of all of his accomplishments, he was most proud of his family. At the age of seventeen, he met Carol Jean Carter from Tampa, Florida who would later become his loving wife of sixty-nine years. Together, they raised three successful children, Milton C. Rogers (“Much”), Richard W. Rogers, and Rebecca Duff Ramsey. In addition to his children, Milton’s legacy includes six wonderful grandchildren who loved their “MB”.
If you knew Milton, you knew his other love was his second home at Garcon Point… being on the water, captaining his boat with the wind in his face, thinking of his many blessings and watching the sunset on “another great day”.
A man of remarkable integrity, Milton loved every aspect of this life, the highs and the lows, the joys and the sorrows, and even the disappointments. To quote Milton’s sincere but simple philosophy of life: “Every day is a good day… some days are better than others”. “Always do the right thing and do the best you can with what you’ve got”, and I will live my life “As much as I can, the best that I can, as long as I can”.
To say that he was admired seems so inadequate… and that he will be missed seems incomplete. When our family lost Milton, we realized there are no words that can adequately express our grief. Nor are there words which can express our gratitude… for all the ways he touched our hearts and lives.
Milton’s family would like to offer our special thanks and love to the caring professionals of Oak Bridge Terrace at Azalea Trace, and especially to the Personal Assistants who made sure Milton made the most of every day.
Goodbye Milton, Dad, Daddio, Daddy, MB.
As Dorothy said to the Scarecrow, “I think I’ll miss you most of all…”
In lieu of flowers, his family has asked that a donation be sent, in Milton’s name, to St. Christopher’s Memorial Fund, 3200 N. 12th Avenue, Pensacola, Florida 32503. (850-433-0074). This is the church in which Milton raised his family and that he loved and supported for over fifty years.
A visitation will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel from 9:00 am to 10:00 am with a funeral service to follow. Bayview Fisher-Pou has been entrusted with the arrangements.
