Karen Sue Carey

Karen Sue Carey, 65, of Ft Walton Beach FL, formally of Wellsburg WV, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Solaris Health Care, Pensacola FL, after a long illness. Karen was surrounded in her final hours by family and friends including her companion, Glenn Jenson; daughter, Teresa Barragan Cano and her husband, Yesid Barragan Cano; son, Jason Carey and his wife, Amanda Carey; daughter, Jayden Carey, grandson Andrew Carey and his wife Tessa Carey and son Cayven Ray, and former husband John Carey.

Karen was preceded in death by her father Ray Garrett and brother Robert Garrett. Karen is survived by the family named above.

Karen was always a kind, caring, loving, and selfless soul. She always put others before her and loved her family more than anything. Karen enjoyed taking the scenic route in life and enjoyed peaceful relaxing days. Karen always brought a positive light to everyone around her. She enjoyed listening to her partner Glenn playing guitar for her, taking road trips with her daughter Teresa, taking country drives with her grandson Andrew, and playing with her great-grandson Cayven.

Per Karen’s instructions, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered.

Karen will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. The family would also like to thank the excellent care and professionalism provided by Emerald Coast Hospice and Solaris Heath Care staff for their comforting and compassionate actions during this difficult time.

A celebration of life for Karen will be held Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel, 3351 Scenic Highway, Pensacola, FL 32503.
