Janie Rouse Hodges left this earth to join her husband, Jewel and her son, Richard, in their heavenly home on August 10, 2011 at the age of 76
Janie was born in Lucedale, Mississippi on July 30, 1935 and was the only daughter of Roy and Gertrude Rouse. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for 45 years where she served as the church librarian for 30 years. Janie got her Batchelor’s Degree in Education from Mississippi Southern College in 1957. She married Jewel L. Hodges on June 30, 1957. They moved to Pensacola in 1966 and eventually opened Automotive Parts Unlimited and Trawick’s Machine Shop.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jewel L. Hodges, her son Richard A. Hodges, her brothers, Jim Rouse and Dean Rouse.
She is survived by her daughter Theresa Hodges Ward, her son-in-law Darren D. Ward, her granddaughters Katelyn Ward and Jenna Ward, her grandson Caleb Ward. She is also survived by her brothers Karo Rouse (Joanne) and Hillrie Rouse (Debbie), sisters-in-law Willie Rouse, Lil Hodges, Mamie Hodges and Norma Hodges and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, August 12, 2011 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 10 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Pensacola Florida with the Rev. Ron Pouliot officiating. Burial will be Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 4 PM at Shady Grove Cemetery in Lucedale, MS.
Donations may be made to Covenant Hospice or Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Building Fund in Janie’s memory.
We will miss you, Grandma, but we know you are in heaven with Pappaw, Uncle Richard and our Heavenly Father and we will see you there one day.
