James "Larry" Thomas

A celebration of life memorial service for James will be held Friday, December 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, FL 32534.

Mr. James “Larry” Thomas, age 76 passed away on Thursday November 30, 2023 in Pensacola, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Army.

The son of Homer Thomas and Catherine Fulgham, he was preceded in death by his parents, his Stepfather Thomas H. “Bill” Fulgham, 5 siblings, Jerry Thomas, Terry Thomas, Waymon Fulgham, Robert Taylor, and Diane Steenerson.

He is survived by a son, Doug Thomas, brothers Gary Thomas, Thomas Fulgham Jr., and Jerry Phillips, and sisters Shirley Pittman, Libby Wilkerson, Wylene Perkins, Sandra Smith, and Barbara Carwell.

His life included a variety of career choices including service in the army, many years in the car business and creation and operation of a successful landscape and erosion control company.

At an early age, Larry demonstrated a curious and creative character making sculptures from raw clay, telling jokes, and teaching himself ventriloquism. He and his Charlie Mccarthy doll often performed for elementary school children. He loved fishing, garage selling, collecting things he found interesting, growing things, and being the center of attention.

He will always be remembered for his witty personality, his eclectic collection of “stuff”, his outstanding salesmanship and entrepreneurial ability, and his huge love of people and family.

A true “ROLLING SPORT”, he will be greatly missed by many.
