James “Jim” Olin Flynn, of Pensacola, was peacefully beamed up on November 25, 2016 at age 76. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maggie Flynn, and survived by an aunt, Joyce Waters, as well as cousins Jim Waters, Lisa Hudson, Ann Carver, John Hollihand, and countless friends spanning generations.
Jim served in the Navy aboard the USS Springfield, whose travels to France inspired him to open Pensacola’s beloved Elbow Room upon his return home. He spent half a century in a red glow proudly providing the best service he knew how in the unique atmosphere he created, and even hosting an occasional wedding.
In retirement he was often seen basking in his creation from his “Captains Chair” on the other side of the bar. LLAP, old friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Pensacola, or another charity in Jim’s name.
A visitation will be Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 12:00-2:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 2:00pm at Oak Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. Oak Lawn Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
