Frances Rhames Mobley

Frances Rhames Mobley, 86, passed away at her home Thursday, October 9, 2014.

She was born in Port St. Joe, Florida to Pick and Addis Rhames. After graduating from Port St. Joe High School, she attended nursing school in Chattahoochee, Florida.

Frances married Henry S. Mobley on August 15, 1959. They went on a New England cruise to celebrate their fortieth wedding anniversary. A week later Hank passed away.

Mrs. Mobley began her volunteer career at Baptist Hospital as a Red Cross trained Gray Lady in 1964. She served as the chairman of the Red Cross volunteers from 1973-1975 and became the first patient advocate for Baptist Hospital. During her tenure she was described by the volunteers as "an able leader, enthusiastic educator, recruiter and one who has a strong personal concern for patients and the welfare of the hospital." According to Frances Mobley, "The reward for volunteer service is self-fulfillment, and volunteering at Baptist Hospital is one of the most important things I do. Volunteers give a gift of love to the community." Frances continued to give to the community by serving as president of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra Guild 1979-1980.

Frances was a member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church on 9 Mile Road.

Survivors include her son, David Mobley and wife, Olga; son-in-law James J. Marks, Jr.; granddaughter, Deana Mobley Martin and husband, Brian; grandsons, James J. Marks III and Alexander Mobley Marks and wife, Britney; great grandson Gatlin Ty Martin; sister-in-law Ocie Rhames; brother and sister-in-law, Walt and Betty Cox; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Hope Falkner and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Pick and Addis Rhames; sister, Myrtle Rhames Bryant; brother, A. H. "Pete" Rhames; husband, Henry S. Mobley and daughter, Stephanie Mobley Marks.
