Elizabeth (Betsye) Highsmith McMurrain Haddock, aged 89, peacefully passed away after a life well-lived in Gulf Breeze and Pensacola, Florida, where she resided for the past 70 years. She was born December 28, 1934, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Edna Stull Highsmith and Herbert Lee Highsmith, Sr.
She moved to Pensacola, Florida in 1952 where she married Hugh Lee McMurrain who preceded her in death in 1968. In 1973, she married David Anderson Haddock and they were married for 50 years. He preceded her in death in 2023. She leaves behind her daughters, Linda Langford, Sharon Kay McMurrain, and Pam Hasell, and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Betsye was a member of the Driftwood Garden Club, the Santa Rosa Women’s Club, and the Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary. We celebrate the life of Betsye and remember her as a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering love. May her soul rest in eternal peace with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
