Deborah was born on December 20, 1950 in Oceanside, CA. Her family moved around the country to her father’s many naval duty stations. She graduated from San Luis Rey Academy in Oceanside, CA. She attended the University of Hawaii for three years and graduated from UWF in 1973. After graduating she began a teaching career which lasted 31 years.
She married Lynn Jon Hieb in July 1987. They spent the first year of their marriage teaching school together in the remote village of Nondalton, AK. In 1988 she and Lynn moved to Pensacola where they continued teaching and raised their only daughter.
Deborah spent her life fulfilling her dreams of becoming a teacher, wife, and mother. She will be remembered by all for her kindness, caring, and love, and especially for the positive spirit which she maintained throughout her illness. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends and her many cats who were a special part of her life.
Deborah is preceded in death by her parents Wilfred “Cas” Casler and Elizabeth “Betty” Casler. She is survived by her husband Lynn of Pensacola; her daughter Elizabeth of Mobile, AL; her brother George Casler of San Francisco, CA; and her sister Mary Jacobs (John) of Webster, SD.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, June 27, 2011 at Oaklawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church with internment to follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Covenant Hospice, the Alpha Center, or the Pensacola Humane Society.
