

Burnell A. Beal, 86, of Pensacola, FL, passed away on March 24, 2025. Born in Wymore, Nebraska to parents, Burton and Luella, January 5, 1939. Burny is survived by his loving children, Rich (Jennifer) Beal and Susan (Tim) Babcock; grandchildren, Cassidy (Grant) Mitchell, Delaney (Miles) Keeton, Jackson Beal, Brody Beal, and Dolon Babcock; great-grandchild, Charlie Mitchell; siblings, Nevla Straub, Chloe Leet, Patricia Gentry and Terri Brogan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many shipmates that will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Dixie Beal; parents; and siblings, Marcia Husa and Wes Hunnicutt.
Burny proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a young man, before transitioning into the Navy in 1962. He remained in the U.S. Navy until his retirement in 1979, obtaining the Vietnam Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal for his service. Throughout his retirement, Burnell was active with VFW Post 706 in Pensacola and the Fleet Reserve, Branch 22, where he made lasting friendships.
A committal service for Burny will be held on Friday, March 28 at 9AM at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. A funeral procession will take place from Bayview Fisher-Pou, 3351 Scenic Highway, to Barrancas at 8AM that day for those who wish to attend.
