Antonia (Ms. Toni), 86 of Pensacola, passed away August 13, 2020, of natural causes. She was born August 24, 1933 to parents Giuseppe Patane’ and Giuseppa (Caltabiano) Patane’ in Port Thewfik, Suez Egypt. Antonia was married to Lloyd Mitchell March 30, 1963. Antonia is survived by her sons, Dan Mitchell (Trinette), Jeff Mitchell (Dawn); grandchildren, Amber Leonard (Josh), Ryan Mitchell, Megan Mitchell, Abriella Mitchell and Kristine Cervantes; great grandchildren, Juliana Leonard and Faithlyn Leonard; and brother, Alfredo Patane’ of Sicily, Italy. She was preceded in death in 2019 by her husband of 56 years, Lloyd.
Antonia’s career started by working for the Navy Exchange at US Naval Station Catania, Sicily. She then became a home maker for most of her life. She worked for a short time in Pensacola with Creative School-Age Childcare for Pam MacAfee and the Escambia County School System before her retirement. Antonia’s biggest accomplishment was becoming a Naturalized US Citizen. Her hobbies included ceramics, knitting, crochet, macramé, gardening, cooking and traveling the world with the love of her life, Lloyd.
Antonia was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. She also enjoyed volunteering in the Bakery for the St. Anne’s Roundup in the 1980’s.
A Celebration of her life and viewing will be held at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, 619 New Warrington Road, Pensacola, FL on August 26th, 2020 from 5:00 – 7:00pm. At 6:00pm Rev. Fr. Matthew C. G. Worthen will conduct a Rosary for Antonia.
Funeral Mass will be held on August 27, 2020 at 11:15 am at Little Flower Catholic Church, 6495 Lillian Highway, Pensacola, FL.
Graveside Service will be held on August 27, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Barrancas National Cemetery, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL.
