Amy Irene Kirkland, 67, of Crawfordville, FL passed away December 24, 2021. Born on June 13, 1954 in Pensacola, FL she was the last child, and second daughter, of Mabel Irene McLeod Kirkland and Thomas Jefferson Kirkland. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida A&M University (FAMU) and a master’s degree in nursing from Florida State University (FSU) and made her career working in several medical facilities in Leon and Wakulla counties as a nurse practitioner. She always gave free medical advice to her friends and family.
Amy enjoyed camping, boating, her cats and dogs, dancing, FSU football, partying with friends and participating in anything that was fun. She was truly born with the gene for “happiness.”
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, several cousins, aunts and uncles. Sadly, her husband, William (Bill) Payne Lawrence, 70, of the home passed away on January 1, 2022. Her survivors include her sister MaryEllen Kirkland of New Bern, NC and her partner William Jesse Berner of Marshallberg, NC stepdaughters Erica Lawrence of Crawfordville FL and Maggie Lawrence of Denver CO several cousins, their families, one aunt and three dogs and three cats.
Her funeral will be Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 1:30 at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel with interment at Bayview Memorial Park and Cemetery in Pensacola. Visitation will start one hour before the service. Please observe COVID protocols.
