Doris Jean "DJ" Haswell, beloved mother, went to her heavenly home the morning of May 14, 2022. She was born on July 31, 1944 in Eden, Alabama. DJ was the first of five children born to Virgil and Jewell Isbell.
Doris was affectionately known as DJ by her family and friends. She graduated from Pell City High School in 1962. DJ worked her entire life while raising her three favorite kids. The Pell City Community came to know and love DJ during her tenure with the St. Clair Regional Hospital and Judge of Probate Office.
She was an avid reader and collector of fine items, often surprising her children with special trinkets she had found. She enjoyed sitting with company on the front porch watching clouds form shapes in the sky.
Over the years she enjoyed road trips, shopping, Nascar (especially Jeff Gordon) and spoiling grandkids. She was there for anyone that needed her.
DJ is survived by her daughters, Debbie Merryman (Jimmy Ray), Dani Carroll (Casey Whitman), Janine Kane (Skip), and son, David R. Carroll; grandchildren, Alora Thomas (Trent), Raegan Merryman (Matt Davis), Emma Partridge (Jacob Brantley), Jerri Carroll, Julie Carroll, Frances Kane, Paul Kane; great-grandchildren, Bentlee Thomas and Sawyer Thomas; brother, Robert Isbell; sister, Danna Cooper (Olen); and her favorite dog, Ava.
DJ is preceded in death by her husband, Barry Haswell and her brothers, Tommy Isbell and Paul Isbell; son-in-law, Dan Merryman.
