Thomas Jesse Griffin was born June 30, 1929, in Birmingham, AL. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was raised on Wesley Ave in Powderly and lived there until 2018 when he moved to Helena, AL. Thomas graduated from Jones Valley High School in 1948.
After the Korean War, Tommy went to Auburn University and finished in 3 years with a Mechanical Engineer Degree. He worked at the U.S. Steel plant in Fairfield for many years and took an early retirement.
After retirement, he and his brother, James, traveled to many states.
In his early years, his mother taught Sunday School at Jones Valley Baptist Church where he and his brother, James, attended church.
Tommy never married and had no children.
In later years, Tommy enjoyed going to casinos in Mississippi and Alabama. He would not stay more than a couple of hours but enjoyed the time when there. He also enjoyed watching football on TV.
Tommy will be buried at the National Cemetery in Montevallo on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 10:15 a.m.
