She was a member of First Baptist Church Alabaster. Before her stroke in 1995, she was very active in the church, loved singing in the Saints Alive Choir and going on trips with the Jolly Rovers.
Sarah retired from St. Paul Insurance Co. after 34 years and later worked at Rich's Department Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Madison Houston and Ada Goodwin Houston, and nine brothers and sisters, who she loved dearly. She leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews, who will always remember her fondly.
Visitation will be one hour before the 2 p.m. funeral service on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham. Burial, Montevallo Cemetery. Bro. Mike Byars will officiate.
