Sara Thrower Eddings

She married James O. Eddings on September 14th, 1947 and graduated from Auburn University in 1949 where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. Sara was a long-time member of Shades Crest Baptist Church, where at one time, she served on the Finance Committee and as a deacon. She was retired from Samford University where she was the Personnel Director for many years.

Sara was predeceased by her parents; husband, Jimmy; sister, Lillian Mitchell; brother, Cecil Thrower; and son-in-law, Dennis Sims.

She is survived by her five children, Cathy Storey (James), Carol Sims, Becky Barksdale (Brian), Elizabeth Woodburn (Steve), and Buddy Eddings (Beth); grandchildren, Lesleigh Bolton (Dennis), Rob Nicholas (Kasey), Jamie Storey, Meredith Hornsby (Jon), Amanda Bryant (Jonathan), Jeannie Burnette (Chace), Zach Eddings, Chandler Clenney, Brett Clenney (Laryssa); and great-grandchildren, Nick and Emily Bolton, Madelyn, Caroline, and Conner Hornsby, Kirby Nicholas, Rebecca Bryant, and Alex Clenney.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 7 from 10am to 12pm at Southern Heritage Funeral Home in Pelham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Shades Crest Baptist Church.
